🏸 Default Policy Details for Gender/Mixed Combo Doubles:

Defaults and Forfeits

• Teams are highly encouraged to add a sub to the roster to avoid defaults. See Substitution policy.
• If any team defaults 1-2 lines, the remaining lines and all opposing lines play as normal.
• Non-defaulting team must have all 3 (gender doubles) or 2 (mixed combo) lines present and play for the round robin.

Single Default in One or Two Match(es)

• If a gender doubles team plays two lines and defaults one line, or a mixed combo team plays one line and defaults one line in a one or two regular-season match(es):
  • All points for the defaulted line will be awarded to the opposing team for the match.

Multiple Defaults-Three Matches

• If a gender doubles team plays two lines and defaults one line, or a mixed combo team plays one line and defaults one line, three or more matches in regular season play:
  • All points for the defaulted lines will be awarded to the opposing team for the match.
  • The defaulting team forfeits eligibility to win the division, participation in cities and state championships.
  • Teams finish playing all remaining matches in the regular season and continue to accrue match points. 

Severe Default

• If a gender doubles team plays only one line, or a mixed combo team plays zero lines during any regular-season match:
  • All points for the defaulted lines will be awarded to the opposing team for the match.
  • The defaulting team forfeits eligibility to win the division, participation in cities and state championships.
  • Teams finish playing all remaining matches in the regular season and continue to accrue match points.

Voluntary team withdrawals result in opposing teams losing matches and are considered a de-facto default. Any team that withdraws after the league schedules have been posted will automatically forfeit their eligibility for all post-season competitions, including:

• The team forfeits eligibility to win the division and all post-season play.

• The players forfeit eligibility to advance to cities for the entire league year (August-July.) 

• The players forfeit eligibility to advance to National Championships for all sessions in the league year (August-July.)
